Fresh Carrot and Green Apple Juice
While chillaxing one Saturday afternoon on my easy chair as the kids watched Disney Channel, I relished the thought of having a tall glass of ice cold green apple juice to quench my absolutely terrible thirst. Sure, a smoothie could have cut it, but I was lazy to even half-chew on a smoothie, I needed something that I could suck through a straw and that would ease down my throat instantly. Then it hit me - the old family juicer! My parents got a Jack LaLanne Power Juicer about 10 years ago that we hardly used, although on the rare occasions that we did, it was really easy to use and super quick. However, calling it a 'power juicer'? In my opinion, a juicer deserves to be given the honorary title of being a 'power juicer' only if it can wash itself. This one, well... not so much.
As it is already at least 10 years old and had been kept in storage boxes the past couple of years, the power juicer looks rather jaded. Thankfully, it still works fine. For our first drink, I decided to make a simple carrot and green apple juice. Apparently, according to results from a eye check-up done in school by professionals, my son's eyesight isn't very good, and so I will have to drown him in as much carrot juice as possible from now on. I believe this power juicer is going to be utilized a whole lot.
Because I needed a large cup to hold all the juice, I had to tilt the glass mug I found a t an angle in order to have the juice flow down straight into it. I started with juicing the carrots first, then I had the 5 green apples juiced and added into the carrot juice. Just looking at the process made me salivate. The weather here is simply unbearable!
I hope it's not too late to add a disclaimer here but [ THIS IS NOT A ADVERTORIAL FOR THE POWER JUICER, I AM JUST SUPER EXCITED ABOUT BEING ABLE TO MAKE MY OWN FRESH JUICE]
Personally, I absolutely LOVE green apple juice and I could drink it everyday for the rest of my life, BUT that is kinda boring and so right now, I'm preparing to do some research into the types of fruits that can be made into juice and the combinations that work, and those that don't. Could YOU help me with that? Share your favourite juice combinations in the comments section! And as I explore the various types of fruits that are suitable for juicing, I will post updates on Kitchen Missus as well!
